Private lives vs. private eyes

Not exactly another woman

My husband and I keep separate checking accounts.   I've never had any reason or interest in looking at his, but one day he left it open on the counter, so I thumbed through it.  I noticed he writes regular checks to his mother; he had never told me we were supporting her.  I have so many questions I don't know where to start, and how do I control my emotions?

NuKazoo readers share their experiences:

I think looking at my wife's check book would be a betrayal of trust; like looking at her email.  Whether her sending money to her mother would be a betrayal would depend on the amount.  After all, separate checking accounts means that each has at least some discretionary power over what is being spent.
